Pilates Program for Cancer Survivors
Based on the latest evidence surrounding exercise and its benefits in recovering from cancer treatment, Platinum Physio has launched its Pinc Pilates program. The benefits of regular exercise are well known, and physio-supervised exercise is a particularly effective form of exercise for those people who have chronic conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis and diabetes, where specific, targeted exercise is shown to be more effective than self-directed exercise.
Recent research has shown that cancer survivors have increased risks of developing secondary issues related to their health following treatment for cancer, and that targeted, graduated exercise under the guidance of an experienced and trained health professional like a physiotherapist, has a greater impact on improving quality of life post treatment.
Lead by our Specialist Oncology Physiotherapist Gillian Buckley, the Platinum Physio Pinc Pilates Program is being run by our Physios Lilly and Carlie, and is aimed at providing an environment for those who have undergone, or are undergoing treatment for cancer. This setting allows us to provide targeted and personalised exercise to each participant in a group setting, so you will be exercising with people who not only understand what you are going through, but have gone through similar journeys themselves.
The program is available to both male and females (there is a Steel version of this program for males), and you can be confident that you are working with the most highly trained clinicians, as all therapists treating under the PINC Pilates banner must complete many hours of training before being an accredited Pinc Pilates therapist
