Shockwave Therapy provides treatments to patients suffering from a range of chronic conditions (greater than 3 months) as mentioned above that are notoriously difficult to resolve.The treatment has been present in elite sporting clubs since the late 90’s and is now starting to make its way through general Physiotherapy practice.
what is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave Therapy causes a release of substance P from the terminal vesicles of the nerves which cause an immediate decrease in pain and causes vasodilation (increase blood flow) which promotes tissue remodelling. There are a number of clinical trials that support the use of shockwave.
